Four Day Itinerary - Marin - SF - Wine Country
Frequently, guests ask the staff to design a series of day trips that highlight San Francisco, Marin and wine country – all quite accessible from The Inn Above Tide. Below are just a few of the many itineraries guests choose. Please call upon any Inn Above Tide staff member to assist in making reservations or to provide directions.
DAY ONE
CHECK IN – Enjoy sunset wine and cheese at the hotel served every evening in the guest lounge. Trays are provided should guests desire to enjoy hors d’oeuvres on their private deck.
DINNER AT POGGIO – A mere two block walk from the hotel, this popular Tuscan style restaurant has a lively atmosphere and outdoor sidewalk café style seating to supplement the handsome open air indoor dining room. www.poggiotrattoria.com
DAY TWO –SAN FRANCISCO
The city of San Francisco defies brevity in description. No matter how many times one visits the magical city, there is always more to discover. The concierge will be pleased to arrange excursions, theatre tickets, recommend restaurants whatever is desired. Special effort is made to stay current on events and compelling attractions.

- Take the ferry adjacent to the hotel to SF…tour the Ferry Building with its artisan shops, cafes, restaurants and extensive Saturday Farmer’s Market along the waterfront.
- Walk or taxi downtown to Union Square – heart of San Francisco
- Lunch near the square or continue on to Chinatown walking and lunch at one of hundreds of authentic Asian eateries
- Taxi to famous Coit Tower and take in the 360 degree views.
- Continue on to one of these three locales which provide a glimpse of San Francisco’s famed architecture and lively neighborhood life. Union Street, Chestnut Street or Upper Fillmore.
- Enjoy an early dinner or cocktail in one of the above neighborhoods before taxi-ing the few minutes back over the Golden Gate to the Inn Above Tide.
DAY THREE – MARIN
Start the day with a morning walk along the waterfront exploring the lovely yachts in the harbor and the awakening village that is Sausalito.

After breakfast, bicycle along waterfront paths or take the short drive to Mill Valley or Tiburon and enjoy either of these charming towns. Sip a cappuccino and watch the lively scene set against beautiful natural surroundings.

After breakfast, take a hike in the Marin Headlands or up Mt. Tamalpais. There are dozens of trails with a myriad of scenic rewards. Ask a staff member for directions.
OR
After breakfast, walk across the Golden Gate Bridge

Explore the town’s many shops and galleries for a relaxing and enjoyable afternoon.

DAY FOUR – WINE COUNTRY
ARCHITECTURE LOVERS WINE TOUR
This tour focuses on Napa Valley and is a good day trip if one departs the hotel around 10am. Tasting fees range from $15 - $40 per person per winery.
- ARTESA WINERY in Carneros region of Napa Valley is the newest adventure for a 15 generation wine making family. Modernistic winery with award winning architecture and wines with extensive outdoor sculpture experience. Known best for Cabernets, Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays.

- DARIOUSH WINERY along the famed Silverado Trail in Napa Valley is visually commanding from the road. The exotic Persian influenced architecture is combined with modern sensibilities to create a compelling presence. Noted for excellent award winning cabernets, the winery is about 50 miles and just over an hour from The Inn Above Tide.

- RUBICON ESTATE - NIEBAUM COPPOLA is located on Hwy 29 in Napa Valley and is owned by famous film director Francis Ford Coppola. The estate dates its wine and architecture to 1882. Coppola's inspired and extensive restoration has created a classic in the valley. Don't miss the caves or the fascinating museum of memorabilia from his career. The wines are respected are there are a number of private tours limited to small groups available.

DIRECTIONS: From Silverado Trail cross over at Rutherford Cross Rd.
- QUINTESSA WINERY is located along Silverado Trail toward the north end of the Napa Valley. Essentially the entire winery is a futuristic cave built with environmental sensitivity into the hillside. Uncrowded and by appt only, the tour and tasting gives the guest a close up and personal experience of the making of Meritage Reds. Limited production and high end award winning wines.
